The other party’s insurance company is always going to try to be your friend if you were to report the claim to them and you weren’t represented.
They are going to act like they’ll handle the claim for you and tell you you don’t need a lawyer, but I can tell you that it’s a business and they will try to take advantage of you if they can. And that may mean trying to settle the claim with you very early on before you’ve been to a doctor and before you have any idea as to what the claim is worth.
Those are things that you probably don’t want to do. It’s really in the potential client’s best interest to avoid contact or any communication with the other side.
The exception being regarding the vehicle. They want to be sure when they are in an accident if their vehicle is in a tow lot or incurring storage expenses, you want to make sure that’s moved.
